Coppeneur Chocolate

In 2006 Coppeneur became one of only a handful of chocolate makers who create premium single plantation and premium single origin chocolate. Coppeneur purchases cocoa beans directly from the farmer. This close relationship ensures Coppeneur visits the plantations, allowing for inspection of the beans, cultivation methods, fermentation/drying techniques and working conditions of the employees.
Coppeneur is also a cocoa grower. Amid lychee, mango, black pepper and vanilla, Coppeneur found a fertile piece of land shielded by shadow trees on a small hill located on a volcanic island off the northwess coast of Madagascar. Using organic cultivation techniques, Criollo and Trinitario seeds from the freshest fruit of the best cocoa plantations in the Sambirano Valley were planted. Our first crop is expected in 2011.
