Marieke Chocolatier

Marieke Chocolatier was inspired by a very special box of Belgian chocolate that one of our founders received as a gift in 2001. The box was special not only because it contained the best chocolate she'd ever tasted, but also because it came from a special Belgian man who would later move across the Atlantic to share her life and become her husband.
We wanted to bring authentic Belgian chocolate to the United States, but we didn't want to be just another chocolate shop. We wanted to emulate the special feeling that very first box of chocolates created and share it with our customers.
Our chocolate is imported in bulk from Belgium and hand-packed in Minnesota. Marieke chocolates are presented in the traditional European “ballotin” box lined with monogrammed, fine paper candy cups.
“Marieke” (ma-re’-ka) is a common Flemish name meaning “little Marie.” The company is named Marieke not only to reflect the company founder’s Flemish roots, but also to honor the two Maries in her life - her goddaughter, and her sister-in-law, who runs five chocolate shops in Brugges, Belgium.
The result is Marieke Chocolatier. We hope you enjoy every piece.
