Made solely with plant based ingredients, the truffles provide a concentrated source of antioxidants. For today's health conscious customers, our truffles are dairy free and diabetic friendly. Naturally sweetened with cane juice they have a low glycemic index with only 0.2 grams sugar per truffle. Unable to find "good tasting" vegan desserts, Native Gardens Founder, Melba Thorn, began experimenting with recipes in early 2003. Native Gardens was started on the premise of "NO artificial preservatives EVER". We support sustainable environmentally responsible organic farming using only certified organic ingredients and recyclable packaging. Our motto is "What tastes good should be good for the planet". Native Gardens truffles are artisan-crafted and each truffle is made to meet our exacting quality standards. Recipes from the company's beginning in 1913 are being used, and even some of the vintage equipment is being brought back into service. In 1984 the Archibald Candy Co. retired the brand, but the recipes were passed down to Dan Abel of the Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company. His company brings them back for us today.
