Many successful businesses are born after the owners have worked in other careers and decided there really is another way to make a living. Mike Mattingly was a firefighter in one of Washington, D.C.’s busiest firehouses, and Katie Dowd worked for 17 years in the corporate world.In 1994 they discovered an 80 year old very secret fudge recipe and decided this was the business for them. Today, the two ambitious entrepreneurs run the successful Outer Banks Fudge Company, providing delicious fudge, coffee and gift products.
Today their new Nags Head Location is 2236 S. Croatan Hwy. (Milepost 10.5 on the Bypass), and the Outer Banks Fudge Company is open year round.
