An Italian confection tradition, Perugina began in 1907 in the Umbrian hill town on Perugia. The young heir to Perugina, Giovanni Buitoni and confectioner Luisa Spagnoli created an exceptional collection of fine chocolates that have withstood the test of time. In 1922, Luisa created Perugina's signature chocolate, Baci or "kisses" in Italian. Legend has it that Luisa and Giovanni were secretly in love, and communicating their passion through love notes wrapped around confections. From this amore came Pergina's greatest traditon, creamy dark chocolate surrounding a rich hazelnut center that arrives wrapped in a love note scribed in four languages. A truly delicious and romantic chocolate confection.

In 1984 the Archibald Candy Co. retired the brand, but the recipes were passed down to Dan Abel of the Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Company. His company brings them back for us today.
