Suzanne's Sweets

Suzanne's SweetsA Little Bit of Heaven: Suzanne's Sweets Rugelach-a modern twist on a traditional dessert.Everything good starts in Mom's kitchen, especially dessert-at least that's what my three kids always say. And that's where my homemade Rugelach began. It's become a great tradition in our home. After discovering that I had a special talent for baking, I started creating and perfecting Rugelach. Friends and family always insisted on a plate filled with these pastries at every gathering. Making these treats became a true passion and before I knew it, people were asking to buy them and encouraging me to start a Rugelach business. Suzanne's Sweets was "open for baking" in April 2005.

In a short period of time, my pastries have gone from just friends and family, to tables all over the country. Internet sales, as well as newspaper, magazine articles and RAdio are making a national name for Suzanne's Sweets Rugelach. Last summer we were proud to have received an award in the Best of Westchester Magazine, 2006. Hear our interview on "Launchpad" with Joan and Liz Hamburg Dec. 11, 2006 - WOR 710 Radio.

Always available are the traditional flavors, in our signature one pd. boxelach, gift tin, baskets (sm, med, lrg), or Tower: Chocolate, Strawberry, Apricot, Raspberry, Cinnamon/Raisin and a special, very non-traditional Dark Chocolate Dipped Rugelach. Other unique flavors are offered during different months of the year: Coconut, Butterscotch, White Chocolate/Macadamia Nut, Peach, Blueberry, Blackberry, Chocolate/Caramel, Apple, Cinnamon/Raisin, Cranberry/Orange, Chocolate/Peanut Butter.

Treat yourself to Suzanne's Sweets Rugelach, or send them to family, friends and business associates. " Let our tradition become yours!

Did You Know
A 2005 study based at Tufts University in Medford, MA found that dark chocolate actually helps to lower blood pressure. In a controlled experiment comparing 20 different people, researchers found that dark chocolate was a significant factor in lowering blood pressure, while white chocolate was not. The key ingredient thought to cause this phenomenon is flavonoids.

Flavonoids, also found in wine are types of pigments that are water-soluble and created by plants of many varieties. There are thousands of different flavanoids. Plants use flavonoids in the process of photosynthesis.

How the human body actually uses and/or processes flavonoids is still not determined but they have been linked to good health in many areas - particularly blood circulation.

If you are a science buff, then you'll be interested to know that flavonoids are polyphenolic compounds containing 15 carbon atoms, two benzene rings joined by a linear three carbon chain. If you're just an average, everyday person with a sweet tooth, then you'll be interested to know that good things are contained in a single bite of dark chocolate. So please, put down the chemistry book and enjoy some today!
